After
a long, frustrating nine month break, spent unsuccesfully trying
out hopeful drummers, we are happy to announce that Burden is
back on track, as we finally have a new drummer. His name is Jason
Kehoe, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Jason is no stranger to
the 'core, having previously played in Toronto metalcore band
Day Of Mourning, and recently Montreal's Rise Over Run. Jason
is moving to Vancouver to join the band at the end of the month,
and will have little time to slow down and settle in, as we head
into the studio April 17-21, to record five-six new songs with
Jesse Gander at Rec-Age Recorders in Vancouver. Jesse is an upcoming
engineer/producer, who has done the last releases for Vancouver's
Reserve-34, End This Week With Knives, and Blue Monday. Jesse
really knows his stuff, and we're happy to be doing the new record
with him. The new EP, the longly overdue follow up to 1999's "If
You Don't Stand For Something, You'll Fall For Anything"
full-length, will be released on Germany's Dead Serious Recordings,
and will hopefully see a May release date, with the CD EP version
released first, and the 7" hitting the streets this summer,
corresponding with the band's second European tour this July/August.
Even more overdue than the new EP, is the 12" vinyl version
of "If You Don't Stand For Something..." This will finally
be released by Dead Serious this April, with a possible limited
gatefold cover available only through mailorder or at shows on
Burden's summer tour. Also in the plans for our friends out west
is a short stint up the west coast to Cali and back. And, for
our friends out East, we are looking into finally making it out
your way after this summer, or in the '04.
In
other related news, Dissent, Burden guitarist Sean Spear's other
band, in which he rocks the mic's full length CD, "Loyal
To None", will be out in April on Dead Serious Recordings.
Dissent also has in its ranks ex-Burden members Mark Thomson and
Henry Aldridge. Burden bassist Adam Mitchell has joined Vancouver's
BLUE MONDAY, whose new "War Wounds" 7" was just
released on For The Core Records out of California.
Old
news: Dave Mitchell, the older brother of Adam, joined the band
last March, replacing long time guitarist Mike Orpen, who left
the band during Burden's 2001 European tour. That is about it
for now, thanx for reading, and we hope to see you all soon!
